About this course

The ProPharmace Head Start Programme is designed to help you hit the ground running as you begin your Foundation Training Year. It will equip you with the knowledge, confidence, and clarity you need to understand the year ahead, meet key expectations, and succeed while delivering safe, high- quality patient care. In this first session we’ll break down what the Foundation Training Year actually involves, how it’s structured, and what’s expected of both you and your supervisors.

Part 2: Participants will explore how to engage effectively with everyday learning opportunities in the workplace, including working collaboratively with supervisors and proactively developing clinical knowledge and professional skills. The session will also offer an overview of the GPhC Registration Assessment, including its structure, content, and assessment domains, alongside strategies to support early and ongoing preparation. By the end of the session, trainees will have a clearer understanding of how to maximise their workplace learning and begin building a structured approach to successfully prepare for the registration assessment.

This session introduces trainees to the expectations and responsibilities of working as a foundation trainee pharmacist, with a strong emphasis on the importance of professionalism and patient safety. Participants will explore how to establish effective routines, build good habits, and uphold professional and ethical standards in a healthcare environment. The session will highlight how to identify and respond to risks in practice, and how to embed a patient-centred, safety-first mindset from the outset of the training year. By the end of the session, trainees will have a clearer understanding of their day-to-day responsibilities and feel confident in their ability to act in the best interest of patients while continuing to grow as healthcare professionals.
